The lilac flower, with its delicate petals and calming fragrance, holds a deep spiritual meaning rooted in themes of renewal, wisdom, and tranquility. Often blooming in early spring, lilacs are associated with rebirth and the promise of new beginnings, symbolizing the end of winter's dormancy and the arrival of fresh growth. Spiritually, the lilac's light purple colour is linked to higher awareness, intuition, and spiritual consciousness, making it a flower of enlightenment and inner peace. In many cultures, lilacs are seen as a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms, helping one connect with inner wisdom and the gentle beauty of life’s cycles. The flower reminds us to release past sorrows, embrace the present moment, and remain open to new possibilities on our spiritual journey.

"The saying goes that in order of transform the world, we need to begin with transforming ourselves. While it is not an easy path to self-reflect and grow, it can help when necessary conditions are created. Carissa Gravelle took my colleagues and I on an anti-racism journey that was enveloped with care, honesty, clarity, challenge and depth. Gateway Association is ever so grateful to have had her stewardship while we embark on a lifelong journey to examine our intersection with anti racism and equity. Her facilitation style invites folks across the spectrum of self-awareness to truly listen and be willing to shift. I recommend her whole heartedly."

Centretown Community Health Centre

Centretown Community Health Centre (CCHC) has engaged the services of Carissa Gravelle on several occasions because of her very skilled facilitation skills. From the beginning of any session that Carissa facilitates, she brings a warmth and inclusivity that immediately creates a safe space for any discussion that she hosts. During her facilitation of our community engagement sessions to gather feedback on the launch of a 24/7 mental health and substance use crisis response, Carissa worked with a range of people who were very supportive of this initiative and those who had concerns about this project. She helped us hold the space for some difficult conversations and also move forward with concrete commitments and action. As a result, I invited her to again facilitate some discussions within CCHC that we were having around some polarizing discussions that we were having around some of our advocacy issues. I would highly recommend Carissa for any facilitation and group work, especially if you are anticipating some “heat” in the discussion. She has beautiful capacity to hold space for difficult conversations, supporting the participants and leadership in these conversations.
